Brethren:
What can I say but, September’s meeting was great! The benches were full, so let me tell you what you missed if by chance you couldn’t attend.
R.W. PDDGM Robert E. Jones assumed the chair of King Solomon and conducted the Degree work for the evening for Past Masters Night. All of the Past Masters performed very well as they collectively initiated Bros. Henry and Jacob Kroon into Masonry. I know Henry and Jacob to be fine men and will be an asset to Jerusalem Lodge as they progress through their degrees. I also believe that the initiation of a father and son at the same time is a historic moment for our Lodge.
For those of you, who have not heard Bro. Wally McKnight tell a joke, let me tell you he has wonderful timing and can hit a punch line with the best of them. Wally kept us entertained at the appropriate moments while our candidates retired… thank-you.
Attending the Lodge that evening were R.W. DDGM Ian Oliver and V.W. Bro. Peter Miles Grand Pursuivant. They were on hand to invest our very own V.W. Bro. Oswald Mathurin as Grand Steward. This was a very special moment as V.W. Bro. Oswald Mathurin has accepted to wear with pride the regalia of V. W. Bro. Byron Bridges.
The night just kept rolling as we presented Lewis Jewels to Bro. David Penney and R.W. Bro. David Tillcock and upon Lodge ending, everyone retired to have refreshments and fellowship.
Our Emergent Meeting took place on Sept 29 where we passed Bro. Joe Ford and Bro. Mike Naugle to the Second Degree. Excellent work by all and many thanks to those who participated in the cooking of breakfast for everyone.
Our October meeting will prove to be fun as it will be Step up Night! Come on out and support your new officers as they are expecting to initiate Mr. Ian Grant LaFlamme into Masonry.
The Emergent Meeting on the 20th will have Durham’s finest on hand to raise Bro. Steve Thompson to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason and the following Saturday (27th) we will be raising Bros. Kevin Gilroy and John Spink. Both of these meetings will begin with a pancake breakfast.
Additionally, Applefest closes downtown Bowmanville on Saturday 13th and we’re opening the doors for another Open House. October will be a very busy month.
To our shut-in Brethren, may the GAOTU hold you and keep you in his loving hands.
Sincerely and Fraternally, W. Bro. Donald Page
