Brethren:
The month of October proved to be very busy as well as rewarding.
As tradition dictates, our regular meeting for October was Step up Night. Our Senior Warden Bro. John Wheat and his officers conducted an initiation into Masonry of Bro. Andrew Lyng. Bro. Wheat has been working very hard leading up to the night’s event and I was so pleased to see him with gavel in hand conducting a first rate Degree with his new officers. I know the lodge will be in good hands for the future!
I would like to welcome Bro. Andrew Lyng to our fraternity. From the moment I met you, there was a quality of quiet confidence that you exuded which was very evident by the way you conducted yourself through your initiation. Your attentiveness was very much noticed as you progressed through the Wardens as well as the lectures. Masonry has very much to offer and I will watch with great anticipation as you progress through your remaining Degrees.
I would like to recognize and give thanks to V.W. Bro. Ken Bromley for his efforts in helping to organize Brotherhood night for this year. I would also like to thank you for your continued efforts on keeping the lodge informed on our Brethren from month to month. You are truly a good mason and a good man!
The day of October 13th was Applefest in Bowmanville and once again our lodge doors were open to the public. Many tours were given and I believe people are highly interested to learn what Masonry is all about. To the brothers who gave their time to attend to the public … I thank you.
October 20th was a special Saturday morning Emergent meeting as the Durham Regional Police Degree team under the guidance of W. Bro. Michael Ennis conducted a 3rd Degree on Bro. Steve Thompson. W. Bro. Ted Denny of “Denny’s” provided breakfast of flapjacks, sausages, juice and coffee. It was a real joy to watch the precision of the event. Bro. Steve Thompson was very well prepared and conducted himself with pride and honour! Congratulations Bro. S Thompson on a fine effort.
October 27th was another Emergent Meeting as the Lodge Officers conducted a double 3rd Degree on Bro. Kevin. Gilroy and Bro. John. Spink. Collectively we enjoy breakfast together prior to the Degree starting. This was my first time seeing a double third and my hat goes out to the Officers and Lodge brethren who participated to make this happen. Congratulations to Bro. Gilroy and Bro. Spink on their fine work.
The month of November is fast approaching and it will be elections. Let’s get those benches filled so that you may vote relative to the future of Jerusalem Lodge.
As you have read brethren, October was very busy and rewarding, however much work still needs to be done prior to December installation. We will be having another Emergent Meeting in the month of November to Initiate Mr. Ian Grant LaFlamme into Masonry. Your consideration of effort and time will be most appreciated.
To our shut-in brethren, may the GAOTU hold you and keep you in his loving hands.
Sincerely and Fraternally, W. Bro. Donald Page
