Message From the East - FEB 2007

My Brethren:

Hello to all! This is my first official message from the East.
I sincerely hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas holiday and your looking forward to a fantastic New Year!

Words cannot express how pleased I was to see so many brethren out for our January meeting; truly a wonderful sight. Even though we did not conduct any degree work, we certainly filled our evening with discussion that proved very interesting. I would like to thank all the brethren that brought forth their ideas regarding our Masonic Bursary relative to the graduating students within Clarington.

We had some Masonic education presented by R.W.Bro. Meirion Griffiths relative to the solemn ceremony of a Lodge room dedication. Should we have an opportunity as a Lodge to witness this event; I believe this would be one of those can't miss moments. Many thanks to V.W.Bro. Keith Billett for his historical account and stories about Jerusalem Lodge and it's distinguished Brethren within the town of Bowmanville. Keith did a great job of holding our interest and left us wanting more! By the way Keith, when do we get the next installment? Finally W.Bro. Craig Elliott presented the Brother-to-Brother program and its many facets.
I must tell you all, that I did receive many wonderful comments as to the content of that evening with the hope that we will do more. Oh Yes!... I can't forget our Junior Warden W.Bro. Alan Berry who is continuing in the fine tradition of ensuring the brethren are well looked after with fine food and drink! V.W.Bro. Jack Hartwell,
I hope you are smiling!

It is with great sadness to report that W.Bro. Thomas C. Gatchell was called home to the Grand Lodge above on January 11, 2007. Many thanks to the brethren who attended the Masonic Service at Morris Funeral Chapel. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Eileen and family. Please accept our condolences.

The February meeting is fast approaching brethren and we will be conducting a First Degree on all available candidates. I encourage all Jerusalem members to come out and support our new candidate and our new officers!

In closing brethren, thank you for the great start to a New Year. To our shut-in brethren may the G.A.O.T.U. hold you and protect you within his loving hands.

Sincerely and Fraternally,
W.Bro. Donald E. Page
