HISTORY OF JERUSALEM LODGE
1849-1949

CHAPTER VII

Conclusion

Thus, is drawn to a close this History of Jerusalem Lodge. In writing it, we have endeavoured to bring to you the more important items of interest pertaining to the activities of the Lodge rather than the activities of individual members, with the exception of references to outstanding merit.

Time and Space Prevents More Detail

Names of most individual brethren have of necessity been omitted, not because of any lack of respect or from failure to recognize their great assistance to the Lodge, but because of the lack of time and space in preparing a booklet of this type. On this subject it is your compiler's wish that at a future date some member of Jerusalem Lodge may see fit to write a more complete history which would include the good record of those members we found it so difficult to omit.
We have endeavoured to include the more important items. It is quite possible that some have been omitted while others of a lesser nature are included. If the brethren note any items of this nature or any errors or omissions, your compiler would be pleased to receive these which may be appended to the the official copy in the Lodge records.

Looking Back and Looking Ahead

In the preceding pages you have read the story of Jerusalem Lodge; a story dating back to the boyhood days of our fathers, and, for some of us, to the early days of our grandfathers. This country has seen many changes and much development since then. Masonry, however, has not changed fundamentally. Our lodges are more elaborate; our membership has grown as have also our activities, but Masonry, and the principles for which it stands, remain unchanged and will remain unchanged, so long as men are God-fearing men.
We, as members of this Lodge, have a heritage of which we should be justly proud. We also should consider and be thankful for this and for the privilege of living in a country where Freemasonry flourishes.
Canada is a comparatively young country and undoubtedly will develop to a far greater status in the years ahead.
It is our duty, therefore, in respect of our forefathers, of ourselves and of generations yet to come, to guard the sacred trust reposed in us, and to cherish and to preserve the excellence of Freemasonry.
May Jerusalem Lodge continue to grow and develop, so that 100 years hence, it may still enjoy the pleasant associations it now has with its sister lodges, and will hold an honoured place in the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Canada in the Province of Ontario.

All of which is respectfully submitted.

W. G. PASCOE, P.M.
